I derived most of the data of the earlier generations from a booklet compiled by George Alfred Reish and published in 1961. Peter Reish was the son of Ulrich (Wollrich) Reisht and his mothers name was Mary. Ulrich arrived in Philadelphia on Oct. 1, 1754 on the ship Phoenix from Rotterdam. According to the land records of Berks County, (book 34, p.321) Wollrich was granted a tract of land by George Lewis in Nov. 17, 1760. Reference of Ulrich Reisht paying taxes in 1767 and 1768 on 100 acres can be found in PA. Achives, series III, Vol. 3, p. 31 and 120. The earliest reference to Peter Reish is in his fathers will and the Berks County records. Peter was a miller in 1791 with 1 horse and 2 cows. According to the 1792 tax records of Berks County, he was the owner of a grist mill. Peter, his wife and children moved to Union County, Pennsylvania about 1810. He purchased 150 acres and 69 perches from Mathew Irwin.
